Move-out cleaning checklist for rented homes in Kerala
By J-Guard Services · Updated 3 November 2026
Handing keys back is easier when the home is genuinely clean, and the deposit conversation is shorter. This is the checklist our crews work to on a move-out clean — usable whether you do it yourself or book someone.
Before the clean
- Empty every cupboard and wardrobe completely. A move-out clean assumes the property is empty.
- Book the clean for after your things are out, not before.
- Photograph each room once it is done, for your own record.
Room-by-room checklist
- All rooms: floors, surfaces, doors, windows and switchboards.
- Inside every emptied cupboard and wardrobe.
- Kitchen: a deep clean including appliance exteriors.
- Bathrooms: a deep clean and sanitising, including tiles and fittings.
- Balcony and utility area.
- Ceilings and fans, which are easy to forget and easy for a landlord to spot.
Moving in instead?
The same clean works before you move in. An empty property is the one chance to reach everything — inside cupboards, window tracks, skirting — before your furniture goes in. If the home has just been built or renovated, book a post-construction clean instead, which deals with fine dust, paint spots and sticker residue.
Common questions
When should I book a move-out clean?
For the day after your belongings are out. A move-out clean is priced and scoped for an empty property, and an empty home is the only time every cupboard can be reached.
How is a move-out clean priced?
Per sq.ft of floor area, reflecting the size and condition of the property. The estimate appears after a quick WhatsApp verification and is confirmed before work begins.
